Richmond Hill Council Approves 2023 Operating Budget

RICHMOND HILL – Richmond Hill Council is supporting the community with a 2023 Operating Budget that maintains all service levels while continuing to focus on fiscal responsibility. The budget includes a 3.72% tax rate increase for Richmond Hill residents and businesses, which is lower than initially forecast. On an average home in Richmond Hill valued at $1,146,000, the tax increase on the Richmond Hill portion of property taxes is equal to $72.74 in 2023. Read More

Working Together to Improve Home Safety

RICHMOND HILL– Today, Enbridge Gas Inc. (Enbridge Gas), the Fire Marshal’s Public Fire Safety Council (FMPFSC) and Richmond Hill Fire and Emergency Services announced they are working together to improve home safety and bring fire and carbon monoxide-related deaths down to zero. 

Richmond Hill Fire and Emergency Services received 486 combination smoke and carbon monoxide alarms through Safe Community Project Zero – a public education campaign that will provide more than 8,000 alarms to residents in 50 municipalities across Ontario.

Richmond Hill Kicks Off 150th Anniversary Celebrations

Year-long celebrations include travelling photo booth, monthly prize draw and more

Richmond Hill – Richmond Hill Council, staff and honoured guests raised the Richmond Hill 150 flag today to officially kick-off celebration of this momentous milestone.

Richmond Hill was officially incorporated as a “Village” in 1873. Its development was closely linked with the development of Yonge Street. Farmers traveled to Toronto markets from further north and stopped in Richmond Hill along the way. Early in the twentieth century, several large greenhouse operations were built in Richmond Hill, while rose growing turned the City into the “rose capital” of Canada. Read More

Richmond Hill to Invest $84 Million in the Community

2023 capital budget includes new and updated parks, trails, pickleball courts and a raingarden

RICHMOND HILL – Richmond Hill’s 2022-2026 Council is focused on fiscal responsibility with a draft capital budget that will provide new and expanded amenities to serve the community along with well-timed maintenance of core City assets.

Richmond Hill’s $84 million capital investments include projects valued at $10.1 million that were pre-approved by Council on December 7, 2022.  Preliminary work on these projects has already begun, including roof replacements for the Lois Hancey Wave Pool, Bond Lake and Tom Graham Arenas.  

The Budget Committee of the Whole approved the remainder of the draft 2023 capital budget of $74.3M at its meeting January 24, 2023. The capital budget will go to the February 8 Council meeting for final approval. Read More

New Schedule for Richmond Hill Council and Committee Meetings

RICHMOND HILL – Richmond Hill Council will reinstate Committee of the Whole meetings, beginning on March 1. Committee of the Whole meetings are discussion-oriented to facilitate Council’s decision-making process and the Committee forwards recommendations to Council meetings for final decision. Committee of the Whole is comprised of all nine Members of Council. Read More
